Many of our young people have faced school exclusion, or become 'lost' in the education system because it has not been able to manage or contain their emotional needs. For many of our young people, school has become a source of anxiety and failure.
A personalised education plan is developed for each individual to attain nationally recognised awards and qualifications. We deliver an integrated model in which all staff work collaboratively towards agreed educational and therapeutic goals.
Our three schools, Riverside, Acorn and Smallbrook provide an environment in which young people can feel safe to learn, and confident that they will receive the necessary support to manage their behaviour.
Young people progress from individual one-to-one tuition to paired and small group teaching at their own rate. They chose from a wide range of curriculum subjects and most will sit examinations appropriate to their age and ability.
For many of our young people, learning to learn, and to enjoy learning is progress in itself. Most of our young people will go on to some kind of further education at 16 + . There are opportunities to access community programmes and extra curricular activities including Duke of Edinburgh awards through our outdoor education programme. Young people are encouraged to develop areas of interest, including music, drama, mechanics and sport both through the curriculum and work experience programmes.
All of our schools are Registered with the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) in England or the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) in Wales.
If you need advice or assistance with a young person, call us today and speak to one of our Directors.
