Young people presenting with inappropriate sexualised behaviour both face and present serious challenges.
Through a gradual and highly-skilled process of therapy and rehabilitation, we encourage them to recognise their accountability and their responsibilities towards others.
We begin by creating a nurturing, healing environment in which the young person can actively engage in a process of positive restoration, - building their confidence, their understanding and their ability to cope.
Reducing future risk - recognised cognitive behavioural models are used to assist young people in this task and we work with them to learn coping strategies which will reduce their potential future risk to others.
Relapse prevention, sexual education, group work, social skills training, mediation, anxiety and anger management are also essential features of our work.
Building resilience - a significant part of our risk reduction strategy focuses on enabling young people to play to their strengths. We assist them to repair damaged relationships within their own families, maximise their educational attainment and plan for a future life in which they can make a positive contribution.
In-house specialists - specialist practitioners are responsible for all of our therapeutic practice. Direct therapeutic work is delivered or co-worked by our psychologist or a qualified social worker with specialised training in the field of interpersonal abuse.
