Rubicon offers a unique service targeted specifically at creating opportunities for young people whose psychosexual development gives cause for concern whilst promoting personal responsibility, empathy and safety for others.

Young people who come to Rubicon may have been convicted of interpersonal offences against others, or they may simply be showing early signs of expressing their own anger and trauma through sexualised behaviours which are not age-appropriate.

The Rubicon approach is nurturing and person-centred, whilst ensuring that the very specific work of 'facing up' is not avoided.

  • Comprehensive risk management - individual needs and behavioural targets take account of public and personal safety issues. We provide each young person with stimulating opportunities across the spectrum of social, intellectual, vocational and personal development.
  • Restoration programme - families and significant others are encouraged to maintain links, subject to review decisions, and home visits or alternative arrangements for family contact are an integral part of the restoration programme.
  • Frequent monitoring - case management, observation and self-report provide the necessary data to identify patterns and measure change in behaviour. Our in-house forensic psychologist works closely with the young person and their staff team to undertake assessments, plan and deliver therapeutic interventions and evaluate progress.
  • Identifying development - all of our young people are holistically assessed using our multi-dimensional outcome model.

Overall we aim to change behaviour, reduce risk and build hope for the future through helping young people to overcome the profound impact of damaged relationships, neglect, emotional, physical and sexual abuse. Read about how our range of services looks to achieve this goal.
